A WORD FROM THE CEOCaring for you for over 85 yearsWhen American Airlines Federal Credit Union first began 85 years ago this month, we offered limited services to a handful of members. Founded by nine employees at Chicago’s Midway Airport, we began with $750 in assets and ended our first year having welcomed 642 members.

We’ve grown a lot over those years, of course, and added dozens of new services and products to better serve our member base, which now exceeds 315,000. But as we prepare to celebrate another milestone anniversary, we recognize that despite the many changes over the decades, our core mission remains steadfast – taking care of our members.

In those early days, we were primarily in the loan business because the need was great. And as all of us begin to emerge from the aftermath of a worldwide pandemic, we understand the need is great today as well.

After helping generations of active, retired and former air transportation employees as well as their families, we’ve never lost touch with the importance of supporting and staying connected with you. Which is why we continue to offer new digital solutions, branches where you work and a robust phone team to enable us to serve, even as other businesses were forced to shut their doors.

In recognition of our 85-year history, you’ll find a number of exceptional offers (along with a few contests) to help you plan for your financial future. You can find out more about them all at AACreditUnion.org/membership/current-offers/.

We’re also making ongoing updates to our online edition of cent$ to provide a more web-friendly presence while still offering helpful articles, including: 401(k) benchmarks to reach depending on your age, COVID-related tips such as moving during the pandemic and maintaining mental health, advice on online auto shopping, breakdowns for loan options depending on your housing needs and so much more.

It’s been a challenging time for all of us, but as things eventually begin to return to some sense of normal, please know that we’re always here when you need us and we plan to stay that way for at least another 85 years.

All the best,
Gail Enda
