Simplify person-to-person payments After having lunch with a friend, you realize you left your wallet at work.
"No problem," he says. "Just send me the money through your phone."
Easy, right? Not necessarily. With such a wide assortment of personal payment apps and options out there — Zelle®, Cash App™, Venmo®, Paypal™, Apple Pay®, Google Pay™, etc. — it can be challenging to figure out which one is best for you.
While Zelle is not integrated within our online banking platform, we can still send and accept money from them. But before you head to the app store, download another app and input a bunch of personal banking info, why not check out the Credit Union's new personal payment feature, Send Money. Discover more details here It’s easy to use, and, even if your friend isn’t in the Send Money network, an app feature offers them the ability to accept payment in a variety of different ways. You also don't need to keep track of an addition payment app because this feature is available to any member with both an active checking account and a debit card.
It's easy to use Send Money:
Log into online banking on your desktop or from the app.
Click on "Payments & Transfers" in the main menu and scroll to "Send Money."
Enter your friend’s email or phone number and the amount you want to send and click "Transfer Funds."
When you transfer the funds, your friend will receive a text/email asking them where they'd like to receive the money, with options such as checking account, Venmo, Paypal or others. As with any personal payment option, it's best to only send money to people you know. No other personal information — such as their account number — is necessary, which adds an added sense of security.
If your payee is a Credit Union member or their financial institution is within the Send Money network, the funds will be transferred directly to their Credit Union account, provided you input the email and phone number associated with that account.
